Double glazing 

A synopsis of my website and all about yours truly, for the interest of my visitors.

A new count gives my site a total of over 120 content pages, plus discussion threads!

Not forgetting Mum, the Kids (3), the Cats (2), the Wife(1). I also try and find the time to get into a reading the many website and computer books I have on: Windows 2000, Small Business Internet, Asp, MS Access 2000 (I did a 20 hour course on that), Java Applets, Java Script, Dream weaver (must start getting into that soon), and Visual InterDev6. Don't ask me what it all means, some of the books are almost three inches thick and I now realise why I get so many headaches!

I may get by on computers and doing my website, but Double glazing is my real specialised subject.

My thorough working knowledge of every make, type and description has been accumulated working for over 20 years and at every level in the "double glazing" industry. I have a naturally inquiring and hopefully open mind and have always really enjoyed my work, which has fortunately retained my interest, enthusiasm, and zest for knowledge throughout.

How I got started with my own website:

This site was first conceived by me as an interesting project only and as just one of my hobbies, and as a bit of a challenge (I am in my 50's - 'teaching old dogs new tricks', etc.), and more or less for the novelty and fun of it. They say that everyone has a book in them and I guess this must be mine, although I do wonder if that makes me sound a bit 'sad', after all it's not exactly an epic 'thriller' is it! I am pleased that the 'inside information' on my pages and the popularity of my double glazing discussion forum helps so many people, and the feedback from visitors confirming this encourages me to achieve more.

When I write I imagine myself explaining things to customers, hence the slightly unconventional 'conversational' style throughout, and probably the use of too many commas, (joke, comma!), and inverted commas. I have done everything on this site 100% entirely by myself. Love it or hate it, this is me, take it or leave it as you please, no offence. Remember - I am not getting paid for this!

I started with a few ideas for pages in late 1998, and not really thinking that I would one day have my own website, as I was just sort of daydreaming and 'doodling' with the idea, and not really taking it seriously. When I did a 'Whois' on my chosen website name in May 1999, and saw it was available, I registered it pronto, and got all excited. I quickly bashed out a few more pages, and enough to feel ready to go public, and first published a dozen or so pages as my original site to the www on the 5th July 1999 - 'fame at last'!
